A totally non-surgical procedure, the M8 hand piece uses both radiofrequency 
and micro-needling for skin remodeling. No downtime is associated, safe on any 
skin type and can be used on patients that just took sun the same day! To sum it 
up, M8 is targeting subdermal layers of skin and tissue to both remodel and 
stimulate collagen production with no downtime and a light sunburn feeling for 
an hour or two. Depending on how aggressive the treatment is, a patient may 
have some faint bruising and/or redness for 48-72 hours

Microneedling
Unfortunately, M8 can get lumped in the “microneedling” category, when
in reality it is so much more.  Traditional microneedling involves no energy
usage, fat destruction, or remodeling whatsoever.  It is used to improve the
texture and appearance of the skin, but also comes with redness and
downtime for 2-3 days·

An effective RF Microneedling treatment from Candela.  Profound cannot
penetrate as deeply as M8, and while the results are also good, there is
SIGNIFICANT pain and downtime associated with this treatment.
Other RF Microneedling Devices
As device companies rush to capitalize on the boom that M8 has created,
new competitors will pop up.  Some recent ones such as AgnesRF involve
single needle protocols which ostensibly do the same thing as M8, but due
to that limitation they are extremely tedious, painful, and time consuming.
